No School Voodoo
Last year Adria and Colin decided that anytime the weather threatened to cancel school they would practice a little voodoo to help Mother Nature along. Somewhere on the internet they found a list of superstitions that are supposed to help increase your luck. With an impending ice storm and finals looming and wanting more time to study, Adria called on her little brother to save the day last night. Colin flushed ice cubes down the toliet, ran around the house six times and performed a few other "good luck" charms, all the time giggling. Andrew teasingly told him to stop it as he needed to go to work today, and Colin needed to stop his "voodoo" practices. I have to wonder who started these superstitions. What person thought flushing ice cubes was good luck? Sounds a bit like something someone who plays the slots would invent. As it turned out, Mother Nature cooperated and glazed the roads with a sheet of ice and sent temperatures in the teens. Now I am at home with rowdy kids eating mac and cheese for lunch. Who knew hanging scissors on the wall would send good luck?

As an avid voodoo practitioner, I applaud you in your efforts to follow the mystical ways which can bring spectacular gifts and rewards to those who are searching for solutions to sway Mother Nature to do their bidding. Giggling and running in circles are especially helpful - and even more so when under the watchful points of the scissors. Please remember though to not run in circles with the scissors in your hands. This has pained voodoo followers for centuries as they mistakenly assume that by having the mystical scissors in hand while doing the voodoo dance will quicken their desired results. Many a leg and eye have been injured because of such false assumptions. Also secure those scissors tightly upon the wall, as many a voodoo follower has fallen into said wall after having run in so many circles. Likewise, place appropriate bags/buckets for upset stomachs. Ice packs for headaches are also recommended. Good luck to your and yours. May the voodoo powers that be....
Ah amy , I love your crazy kiddos! Can they work some voodoo magic for me to #1 keep the snow at bay til I am in Hawaii and #2 give me more time to get everything done!!!???

I should've asked them to do a round for me. We got the ice, but our school DID NOT CANCEL. (All the other schools in the area did though!) I had to slide down our drive and nearly lose the van in a ditch to get the kiddos to school today.
